Nature Hugs You Back

There’s a reason we say common ground.

Maybe somewhere unique inside us we know we’re all living beneath the same sky.

Sometimes it’s nice to bring that awareness into the light.

Recently I heard someone describe “ceremony” as an event where we remember to remember.

Moments where we pause and reconnect to something we already know.

Do you have moments of ceremony in your life?

I did a small interview project in Central Park, asking strangers about their relationship with nature.

Here’s the compiled, slightly chipped footage:

What did I learn?

  1. People brighten when they talk about nature.

  2. Talking about nature makes strangers trust each other faster.

  3. We really are in this strange planetary jumble together.

  4. People care much more than they don’t.

If we are tree-huggers, then trees are people-huggers!

And now, the stage turns to you - I would love to hear your own field notes on these topics. Feel free to continue the conversation below.
